"Birdie Talk"

Sunday, February 20, 2011

Good Morning Everyone. Welcome back to my blog. I hope everyone is having beautiful weather for this day, I know we here in Georgia are.

Today's card is a format that has become very popular in the last couple of weeks.
It is called a "Twisted Easel Card". Here is the card;

"Birdie Talk"

I have seen these posted quite often recently, so decided to find out how to make them. I found some very simple and quite good instruction on "Pam Sparks" blog. Click on her name for the instructions.

Although her instructions are for a 6"X6" square card, my card is for a 4.25"X4.25" square. I guess I am just cheap when it comes to paying money to the USPS.

The image was colored with "Derwent Inktense" pencils and a water brush. The image and the mat was cut out using a Spellbinder die called "Classic Scalloped Circle SML". The mat for the main body of the card was edged with a Martha Stewart edge punch.

Overall the card is very simple, but the Twisted Easel format gives it a nice punch.

Hope you enjoy todays card. If you have questions please feel free to ask.

Your comments are always welcome and appreciated.

Have a GREAT DAY!!!

Bob L.

    I love the fresh design of this card. I'm very partial to backing the main design in a dark color or black, and the punched edge really heightens the drama. Well colored as always.

    Bob, I love easel cards but sometimes my brain just doesn't like to make them and and they make me confused when I am putting them together, so I kind of stick to rather mundane cards.. I love all kind of coloring though I have never heard of Derwent Inktense, but it is beautiful.. must say the birds are done supurbly and all the colors go together so gorgeously.. Thank you for the joe Bob and good sitting with you chatting about your card... glad to be amoungst a military man...
    Hugs, Jean

    Bob, thanks for the twisted easel card...I went to Pam's site for the directions and showed my stamping group how to do this style. They loved it. I made one with my Magnolia stamp and she turned out soooo cute. Thanks for putting this on your blog, I would have missed it otherwise.
